Sometime in the 1980s, mysterious explorer Carl Harbart flies a mail plane into Ethiopia and trades a few aspirin tablets for a brittle, pocket-sized book in an unknown language. Decades later, he gifts the book to his niece, who sets out to discover the book's origin during a COVID-19 lockdown. With the help of her professors, she dives into a search for the origin of the little book — but along the way, she must find the origin of her interest in the book to begin with.
